Sunn Start - adapted and free health information

Here you will get access to the health promoting teaching and guidance material called “Sunn Start” (“Healthy Start”).

The material is developed by Resource Centre for Migration Health, Agency for Health, Oslo Municipality, in collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

This teaching and guidance material is adapted to meet the need for health information among newly arrived migrants to Norway, as well as migrants who is already settled within the community, but have poor health literacy and language skills.

There are, so far, developed 3 teaching and guidance modules focusing on: food and health, oral health and mental health. There is also developed information materials specifically directed towards employees and volunteers working at reception centres in Norway.

“Sunn Start” can be utilised by volunteers, health professionals and/or others working with migrants and migration health within the municipality, in public and private organisations, and in non-governmental organisations (NGO’s).

In order to utilise this material effectively, there is no need for facilitators to have a professional health- or educational background.
